Main Editor of Music, Dance and the Art of Seduction, proceedings of similarly named conference which was organized by the author at the KIT Tropical Institute in April 2005. Published by Eburon Delft in 2013. Second editor: Prof. James Kippen of the University of Toronto.


Editorial board member of the academic journal European Meetings in Ethnomusicology, a publication of ESEM (The European Seminar in Ethnomusicology), in the  period 2004 to 2010.


Editor of Bakeliet, bulletin of the Dutch Society for Ethnomusicology and the Performing Arts Worldwide ‘Arnold Bake’(from 2001 to 2007).

Compiler of the double CD Voice of the Dragon, a joint publication of the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Chime Foundation (2005). 


Reviewer of scholarly papers on Chinese music contributed to journals like Music & Letters, the British Journal of Ethnomusicology, the Journal of Chinese Ritual, Theatre and Folklore (Taiwan), Cahier de musiques traditionelles (Geneve), The World of Music (Bamberg) and other periodicals.


Translator (jointly with AM. Schimmelpenninck) of sixteen scholarly papers on Chinese music (since 1990), as well as a number of opera libretti, puppet plays, Tanci (storysinging) performances, and Chinese songs set to music.
